If your operation cannot run a Tuesday without you, that is the thing to fix.
Not another hire, not another dashboard, and not a longer manual nobody opens. The judgement that currently only exists in your head, on shift whether you are there or not, answering your team in the channel they already use, catching what nobody asked it to look at, and writing down what it learns so the business keeps it. None of that is one big change. It is a lot of small ones that feed each other, month after month, and this is what they add up to. Your best person hands in their notice and the work does not get any worse, because what they knew is written down and the next person has it on their first morning. You take a Tuesday off and the operation runs the same Tuesday it would have run with you in it. That is what makes it a business you can keep adding doors to, and a business somebody would want to buy, rather than a job with your name on it. It runs an operation of around 60 doors across 3 cities today, and it was built by the person it was costing. If that is the year you are having, it is worth a conversation.
